I think I have written more on traveling than any other subject on this forum. You can imagine if I wasn’t a human being – I would have been a bird for whom flying is totally unavoidable on daily basis even to get food. So my love for this particular interest is so sacred that I have made a travel wall at home. There are many things to it and I’ll show you why I do what I do.

I need to do another post on the home decor I like (interior mostly) and how I have decorated mine. You will be so surprised to see that my likings are TOTALLY DIFFERENT than the actual decisions I make when it comes to home decor :/ I think of myself as a creative person. And I like all the homes (inspired by all the gora seasons I have watched) which are colorful and lively. But if you see my own home, it is very very contemporary.

May be due to the kids or my own ability to change my mind at the last minute, anything I do to my home sorts of kill my creativity bud and makes it more “neat” (read: any-setting-that-keep-stuff-away-from-kids) and modern. So this traveling wall is the closest I have gone to satisfy my desire to have a fun, creative wall.

So whenever we go out, we bring something that remind us of the place we have been to. Right? People bring fridge magnets, souvenirs and other stuff that keep their memories alive. We also bring souvenirs but there is another thing that we bring with us – like always. It is the room entry card we stay at. Weird??? Naahhhh…:)

Ever since we have checked in to the first hotel we went together as a couple, we have been collecting these cards. This was my husband’s idea to collect as many as we can and then get them framed. Last month, we both sat together and started looking at them. Trust me, it was in itself such a fun exercise. While deciding which one to go where, we kept talking about those hotels and the places we have been to. We have framed them in a collection of 5. Here is a look!

Collecting souvenirs is a common instinct of all the travelers. I have just pulled them together and dedicated a small shelve for all these pieces.

Last but not the least, I bought a world map and got it framed using the same sheet notice boards are made of (The specific name of the sheet has slipped off my mind). This was done to pierce thumb pins and mark all those countries we have traveled. This is my most cherished work of art. It is not only an informative and detailed map on its own but also helps in seeing where countries are located and how we should plan our next vacation. Remember, I have already convinced my husband how we must cover two countries together??? Details of my traveling preferences are listed here 🙂

Anyway, the thumb pins mark also tell us that we must not visit one country more than once and how we can put two countries together based on their geographical proximity. So this is the heart of my travel wall.

Btw, never got a chance to mention this earlier but my husband is a photographer and this one is our studio. The front wall is filled with his photography work he did and this was the only one he could spare for my little venture 😐

Anyway, this is one relaxing spot at my home. I come here and keep looking at the countries and try to memorize the famous cities belong to them. I plan to make my kids accustomed to the world using this map when they grow up a bit.

Until then, have a look at the world atlas yourself and plan your next venture 🙂

adios!
